N470 (NoShow) 

Student was exited after failing to either return to the same school after a summer or intersession break or failing to show up after pre-enrolling in a school which they had not previously attended.

*Important! Please make sure the student never attended in person at your site before using this code. Once you have confirmation that the student NEVER attended your site, you may use this code. The students Entry Date and Exit Date must be the same. The enrollment and CA ADA reporting must also be excluded from California State Reporting. Please see screenshot to reference proper use of N470.

T160 (TransCASchlRegular) 

Use when: The student transfers to another California public school without a school or district disciplinary referral.

Examples:

• A family moves to another city, and the student enrolls in a different California public school district.
• A parent chooses to transfer their student to another California public school.
• A student transfers to or from an independent study program for a non-disciplinary reason.
• A student finishes their sentence at a Juvenile Court School and is released without documented evidence of a subsequent transfer.

Do not use T160 when the transfer is for a disciplinary reason covered by T165, T166, or T169.

T165 (Mandatory Disciplinary Transfer / Judicial Referral) 

Use when: The student transfers to another California public school because of a qualifying expulsion or a referral by a juvenile court judge or other judicial official.

Examples:

• A student is expelled under Education Code §48915(a), (b), or (c) and enrolls in another California public school.
• A juvenile court judge directs a student to attend another California public school.

Important: The student must be documented as enrolled at the receiving school. If an expelled student has no known enrollment, T165 is not appropriate. 

T166 (Disciplinary Transfer to Alt School)

Use when: The school district refers the student to an alternative education school for disciplinary reasons that do not meet the T165 criteria.

Examples:

• A student is referred to a continuation school because of repeated behavioral violations.
• A student is referred to a community day school for disciplinary reasons that do not involve a qualifying mandatory expulsion.
• A student is referred to an opportunity school due to disciplinary issues.

Remember: The student must enroll in the receiving school, and the referral must not be based on a qualifying mandatory expulsion or judicial referral. 

T169 (Other Disciplinary Transfer to CA Public School)

Use when: The student transfers to another California public school for disciplinary reasons, but the transfer does not qualify for T165 or T166.

Examples:

• A student is transferred from one regular district school to another regular district school due to disciplinary reasons.
• A student is referred to another non-alternative public school because of a behavioral incident that does not meet the T165 criteria.

The key difference from T166: The student is not being referred to an alternative education school for disciplinary reasons.

T180 (TransPrivate) 

Student withdrew from/left school and the district has received acceptable documentation of enrollment in a private school in California.

T200 (TransUS) 

Student withdrew from/left school and the district has received acceptable documentation of enrollment in another public or private U.S. school outside California.

T240 (TransOutUS) 

Student withdrew from/left school to move to another country.

T260 (TransInAdult) 

Student withdrew from/left school to enroll in an adult education program and there is evidence that the student is in attendance and is working toward the completion of a GED certificate, California High School Exit Exam preparation courses, or high school diploma through an adult education program.

T280 (TransCollege) 

Student withdrew from/left school and the district has received acceptable documentation that the student is enrolled in college, working toward an Associate or Bachelor’s degree or taking California High School Exit Exam preparation courses.

T370 (TransInstHSDipl) 

Student withdrew from/left school and entered an institution that is not primarily academic (military, job corps, justice system, etc.) and is in a secondary program leading toward a high school diploma.

T380 (TransInstNoHSDip) 

Student withdrew from/left school and entered an institution that is not primarily academic (military, job corps, justice system, etc.) and is not in a secondary program leading toward a high school diploma.
